WHAT ARE CAFE'S FOR?

How many of us grab our laptops, books, pens and every possible stationary item and head to our nearest Starbucks to get our work done, even though we can do it at home?

Today we are going to discuss something very interesting that we all do but never really think about.
So when was the last time you went to Starbucks or your favourite coffee shop? And what did you go there to do? Meet a friend, get some school/college work done, get some office work done, read a book, write a book, listen to music, have a meeting there or actually just stop by to get your favourite coffee?

Well, in my case I went to Starbucks yesterday to research about why people go to Starbucks, but other then that I too go to Starbucks very recently to get some college work done, study before an exam, read a book, or just hang out with some friends. But one thing I still couldn't understand is that how can we sit in a crowded cafe with so many people talking in the background and the baristas yelling out peoples names and still manage to get our work done rather then be at home in a quite and calm environment and get things done.

Is it the continuous dose of caffeine going into peoples body that keeps them going? Not really cause many of the people sitting there would just order food or some juice or something and many order nothing, so its definitely not coffee in most of the cases. Is it the free wifi that is provided that allows people to do their work? Could be, but why would you need wifi to read or talk or use a notebook?

So eventually I decided lets try doing some work there myself, so I can see what is it that keeps me going, what in that cafe made me study early in the morning before finals, what made me sit there and finish reading whole books during readathons. And when I sat there doing my own work, as I kept looking around at the other people doing their own things, in struck me, it's not what you can get in Starbucks, its what you feel there, which is positivity. Watching other people being dedicated to getting their work done is what motivates you to get yours done as well. It's not even necessary that the person you are watching is actually doing anything productive, they could be watching a movie for all you know, but your mind thinks otherwise and forces you to get your job done.

So next time you are sitting at home doing your work but can't seem to get it done, try heading to your favourite coffee shop and see if you can get your things done there. Maybe just maybe seeing others will help you focus and theres always the extra benefits of food and coffee.
